Accessibility Statement

Last updated: October 2026 • Digital Inclusion & Accessibility Commitment

1. Commitment to Universal Accessibility

I believe that the web should be accessible to all individuals, regardless of physical ability, assistive technology used, or browsing environment.

As a senior web engineer, I actively design and build this website (biswajitmazumdar.com) to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard, established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

2. Specific Measures Implemented

Accessibility is engineered into the codebase from the initial layout phase rather than patched on with third-party accessibility overlay widgets. The following measures are implemented across every page:

  • Semantic HTML5 Architecture: Pages utilize native landmark elements (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <section>, <footer>) and hierarchical headings (H1 through H4) to ensure screen readers can navigate document structures effortlessly.
  • High-Contrast Color Palette: The Obsidian design system pairs deep charcoal/black backgrounds (#08080D, #111114) with high-contrast text (#F4F4F5) and crisp mint accents (#85E6BE), easily exceeding WCAG 2.1's minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio requirement.
  • Keyboard Navigation & Focus Indicators: All interactive elements (navigation links, buttons, form controls, details accordions) are reachable via standard keyboard tab navigation and feature clear, visible focus rings (:focus-visible).
  • Mobile Touch Ergonomics: Touch targets (buttons, links, menu toggles) are engineered with generous padding (minimum 44x44px target sizes) to accommodate touchscreen users without accidental clicks.
  • Descriptive Media & Icon Semantics: Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text (alt), while decorative icons and vectors are explicitly hidden from screen readers using aria-hidden="true".

3. Continuous Testing & Known Limitations

I routinely audit this website using automated accessibility diagnostic tools (such as axe-core, Google Lighthouse, and WAVE) alongside manual keyboard navigation testing across Chromium, Safari, and Firefox engines.

While I strive for complete barrier-free operation, some third-party embedded content (such as external map embeds or third-party payment frames) may occasionally introduce accessibility variables outside my direct control.

4. Feedback & Rapid Remediation Pledge

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on any page of this website, or if you need assistance accessing any information, please let me know. I take accessibility feedback seriously and pledge to investigate and remediate reported barriers within 24 to 48 hours.
